Ghana Social Market
A social multivendor marketplace with escrow-protected payments
What this system does
Ghana Social Market is a multivendor marketplace built around trust between buyers and independent vendors who don't have an established storefront elsewhere. Every order runs through an escrow-style payment flow rather than paying vendors instantly, with a notification log keeping both sides updated on order status. Vendors manage their own catalog and orders from a dashboard, while the platform takes a commission at the point payment is released.
What needed solving
Independent vendors selling through social media and informal channels have no shared trust layer — buyers pay upfront with no protection, and vendors have no storefront that makes them look established.
How this system solves it
A shared marketplace where vendors get a real storefront and buyers get an escrow-protected checkout: payment is held by the platform and only released to the vendor once the order is confirmed, rather than paid out instantly.
Built into the system
Vendor storefronts
Independent vendors manage their own product catalog and orders.
Escrow-protected checkout
Payment is held until a sale is confirmed before releasing funds to the vendor.
Order notification log
Buyers and vendors both get status updates as an order moves through checkout.

What it's built with
Walking through the flow
A vendor lists products in their own storefront. When a buyer checks out, payment goes into escrow rather than straight to the vendor. Both sides get notified as the order moves through its stages, and the platform releases payment to the vendor — minus commission — once the sale is confirmed complete.
This system is actively being built. Core pieces work; some areas are still in progress.
